JOB DESCRIPTION
The City of Wilson, NC, population approximately 50,000+ and growing, is a culturally diverse community ideally situated along I-95 and US 264, less than a 40 minute drive to the capital city of Raleigh, NC and 100 miles from North Carolina's Crystal Coast region. In 2006, Wilson earned the highest ranking for economic strength of any NC micropolian community, and ranked the 13th highest in the nation out of 577 micropolian communities by Policom Corporation in 2006. Now, the City of Wilson is building the first municipal owned FIBER TO THE PREMISE NETWORK in North Carolina.
The philosophy of the City's Police Department is to improve the quality of life for the residents by providing sensitive and effective services through community interaction, with an emphasis on promoting citizen concerns. "Wilson is large enough to lead and small enough to feel like home."
Wilson's Police Department, a nationally accredited agency, has immediate openings for community-oriented professionals to perform responsible protective service work in the prevention, detection, and investigation of violations of the law. Work involves an element of personal danger. This position works an assigned shift.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- be a U.S. citizen
- possess a valid driver's license
- be at least 20 years of age
- possess a high school diploma or GED supplemented by courses and Law Enforcement
- be physically fit
- have no vision impairments
- not have committed or been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor
- must meet the minimum reuirements and qualifications prescribed in the Police Dept Career Development Program
- BLET preferred
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) desired
