MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- be a U.S. citizen
- possess a valid driver's license
- be at least 20 1/2 years of age at the time of written test
- possess a U.S. high school diploma or GED equivalent
- vision no worse than 20/70 correctable to 20/20 if you wear glasses or hard contacts

HOW TO APPLY
Thank you for your interest in the San Diego Police Department. We sincerely appreciate your quest
for a career in Law Enforcement. It is our goal to give you the opportunity to become a Law Enforcement
Officer. It is a great time to get hired with our Department and we have ample amount of Law Enforcement
Officer positions available.

We are currently hiring and you can review our hiring process by going to http://www.sandiego.gov/police .
This will walk you through our entire hiring process. You will find a list of all of our upcoming
testing block dates. You can also watch a video of our Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

There isn't an application for you to fill out, unless you are applying for a lateral position, and you do
not need to pre-register for the written exam. The written exam is given on a first come first serve basis.
Our hiring process is a two day event. On the first day you take the written exam. If you successfully
pass the written exam, you will return the following day for the PAT and the Pre-Investigative Questioneer (PIQ).
You will then leave with a Background packet in which you will have two weeks to complete it and return it to us.

Our hiring process is currently taking 4-8 months. We test monthly and we have 4 Acadamy's per year. Our
starting pay for Recruits is $20.54/hour plus benefits.
