JOB DESCRIPTION
Basic Academy Eligibility Requirements
U.S. Citizen
You must be at least 21years of age and less than 45 years of age.
At the time of application you must have a High School Diploma; Or a G.E.D with 12 college hours at an accredited college/university with at least a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
You must have a valid driver’s license.
Visual acuity must not exceed 20 / 100 in either eye, correctable to 20 / 20 with lenses. You must have normal color vision and depth perception consistent with the occupational demands of law enforcement. You will be required to submit to an eye examination by a doctor of ophthalmology or optometry.
Applicants must meet all legal requirements for licensing and certification as required by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).
You must be of good moral character and have a stable credit history, family background and employment history.
Any person serving within the U.S. Military is required to have an "Honorable Discharge" as shown on their Form #dd-214.
Modified Academy
In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, at the time of application you must have written proof that you have passed the T.C.L.E.O.S.E. licensing exam. Any licensed peace officer from another state must challenge and pass the T.C.L.E.O.S.E. test prior to taking the Civil Service Test.
