JOB DESCRIPTION
Patrol is the most basic and essential of all law enforcement functions. Officers on patrol perform a variety of essential activities and services that are both proactive and reactive in nature. Some of these include enforcing traffic and criminal laws, apprehending criminals, maintaining order, answering calls for service, conducting investigations and educating the public regarding public safety issues and crime prevention.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- be a U.S. citizen
- possess a valid driver's license
- be at least 21 years of age
- possess a high school diploma
- must have standard visual acuity: Without correction, not less than
20/40 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye; with correction, not less than
20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other eye.

The application must be accompanied by:
1. A certified copy of your birth certificate or passport showing that you are
at least 21 years of age;
2. A high school diploma or GED and documentation that you possess a minimum of
30 credit hours from an accredited college, community college or vocational
school; If you have a high school diploma or GED and do not have a minimum of
30 credit hours from a college, community college or vocational school, you
will need to submit proof of one year of sworn, full-time law enforcement
experience or one year of full-time military service *(see exception listed
below);
3. A copy of your driver’s license; and
4. Documentation that you are a citizen of the United States, if not confirmed
by your birth certificate.
*Applicants who meet all qualifications except possession of 30 college credit
hours, one year of full-time military service, or one year of sworn, full-time
law enforcement experience may be hired at a lower pay rate than applicants who
meet all qualifications.
