JOB DESCRIPTION
A Police Officer-Recruit attends the Mesa Police Department Academy, which is certified by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board to learn and perform the responsibilities of an entry-level peace officer. Responsibilities include interacting with a culturally and socially diverse population, employing discretion in solving problems, making arrests, issuing summonses/citations and warnings, writing police reports and assisting the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- U.S. Citizen
- Requires graduation from high school or GED.
- At least 21 years of age by graduation from Police Academy (no upper age requirements).
- License: Must possess an Arizona Class D Driver's License by hire date.
- No felony convictions or dishonorable discharge from military service.

SELECTION PROCESS

For those with Montgomery GI Bill benefits, you can use the money while attending the Police Academy and the FTO Program. The current rate is up to $1321.00 per month depending upon your enlistment time!!

We offer an expedited process for out of state applicants. The first visit requires a stay for 4 to 5 days (if you are able) and the second visit will be for a conditional job offer.

Earn 57 college credits for completing the Police Academy and the Field Training Program.
