JOB DESCRIPTION
The Las Cruces Police Department is seeking dedicated men and women to join the City's Finest. The 39th Las Cruces Police Academy is scheduled to begin January 2009. Police recruits will receive $15.50/hr. plus overtime during the 20 week academy. All equipment and uniforms are issued and a $3000 retention bonus is being offered. Health benefits are also available to all recruits during the police academy. Pay increases to $17.05/hr. upon graduation for the probationary year. Upon successful completion of the police academy, Officer Trainees will enter into a 14 week Field Training and Evaluation (FTEP) program. Upon successful completion of the FTEP Program, eligible personnel will be assigned a take home police unit. Other benefits include 4 day work week, 20 year retirement plan and overtime opportunities. Pay increases to $19.95/hr. at the end of the probationary year. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Possess a valid driver's license
- 19 years of age by start date of police academy
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Vision distant
