JOB DESCRIPTION
The Fargo Police Department has 130 sworn police officers and 19 civilian support personnel. The department is divided into two major divisions: Field Services and Support Services.
The Field Services Division is made up of uniformed patrol officers who are assigned to three districts within the city. Patrol officers work a nine-hour shift. The rotation is five days on and three days off. The shift schedule is as follows:
Day shift:
8:00 am to 5:00 pm
PM shift:
4:30 pm to 1:30 am
Power Shift:
7:00 pm to 5:00 am
Night Shift:
11:30 pm to 8:30 am
The Support Services Division includes the criminal investigations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- possess a valid driver's license
- be at least 21 years of age
- By the date of hire, the applicant must have completed the equivalent of a two-year education at an accredited college or university. An AA degree, 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits will fulfill this requirement.
