JOB DESCRIPTION
The Civil Service Commission of the Municipality of Bethel Park is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. The competitive examination may include:
1) Job-related physical agility test;
2) Written examination;
3) Oral examination;
4) Comprehensive background investigation, including a polygraph examination;
5) If employment is offered, applicant must undergo and pass complete physical and psychological examinations. Applicants MUST have PA Act 120 certification or equivalent; MUST have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; MUST have a valid driver's license; MUST be a U.S. citizen at the time of hire; MUST be at least 21 years old; Have general adaptability to the job and duties of a police officer; Have the ability to meet people with tact, firmness and courtesy; Have the ability to carry out complicated orders with intelligence; Be of good character. Applicants need not be residents of Bethel Park, however, if employed by the Municipality of Bethel Park, police officers MUST reside within eight (8) air miles of the municipal building six (6) months after completing the probationary period. Only applications supplied by this Commission will be accepted. The application process bebins at 8:00 am on May 27, 2008 and this Commission MUST receive completed applications no later than 4:30 pm on July 25, 2008. A $50.00 non-refundable application fee MUST accompany all completed applications. Only a check or money order, made payable to the "Municipality of Bethel Park", will be accepted. Applications can be obtained Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm at the Bethel Park Police Department Records Room, located in the lower level of the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 West Library Avenue, Bethel Park, PA 15102 or by calling 412-831-6800, ext. 101 or ext. 102. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree and PA Act 120 or Equivalent
