JOB DESCRIPTION
Performs a variety of duties in the enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes; controls traffic flow, enforces State and local traffic regulations; and performs certain technical and administrative tasks in support of the department. Work consists of aggressive patrol, response to vehicle accidents, misdemeanor offenses, and felony complaints. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, processing crime scenes, collection of evidence, and courtroom testimony. Police Officers are exposed to personal danger from time to time and will be expected to exercise sound judgment in emergency situations. Because public support and cooperation are essential for law enforcement and crime prevention, officers will preserve this reationship by taking an active role in public education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- be a U.S. citizen
- possess a valid driver's license
- be at least 21 years of age
- possess a high school diploma or GED
